If you’re reading this, you know the inconvenience, pain and shame that comes with having seborrheic dermatitis. I was at a loss when mine got out of hand. That is until I discovered this natural remedy for seborrheic dermatitis.
After giving birth to my second child in 2020, my scalp took a turn for the worse. At this point, ANY shampoo I used irritated my scalp and made it even more scaly, itchy and painful.
I could have easily gone to the doctor and get a prescription for it, I know.
My approach to medicine has always been natural first and other alternatives only when all the natural options have run out. For me, it’s a personal health choice.
But I was running out of options so I did make an appointment, and I got the prescribed shampoo and creams too. But luckily, by the time my appointment came around, I had finally healed it on my own.
Natural Remedy for Seborrheic Dermatitis
As soon as I could see that my seborrheic dermatitis was out of control, I started to think about the things I knew for a fact were anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory.
I also thought about the things that were irritating my seborrheic dermatitis. I noticed that it got worse if I was using shampoo and hair products.
Do that’s when I decided to chuck all my shampoos and non-natural hair products and replaced them with something I used to use regularly in my teens; a homemade ACV “shampoo”.
ACV is short for Apple Cider Vinegar. God’s most perfect cure-all. Honestly, I use this stuff for SO many things. And in my teens when I was trying to get my curls healthier, I started to use the no-poo method.
The no-poo method swaps out shampoo with either no shampoo at all or using an ACV wash and finishing with conditioner.
The reality is that clarifying shampoos on the market can be super damaging and drying to the hair. And that is exactly what was happening with me. The products I was using were drying out my scalp even more.
This ACV wash not only soothed my itchy scalp almost immediately, but it cleared my flakes within two weeks.
- Spray Bottle
- 1 Part Water
- 1 Part ACV
- 15-20 drops of Tea Tree Oil
- Mix all the ingredients into a spray bottle.
- Spray directly onto your scalp and massage in with fingers.
- Let sit for 5 minutes
- Rinse out completely
Be careful not to get into your eyes.
Why it Works
Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural anti-inflammatory as it has powerful antimicrobial properties. It can help soothe irritation and restore the natural PH balance of your skin.
Tea tree oil is also a gold mine! Not only is it anti-inflammatory like ACV but it is also anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiseptic and antioxidant. Basically everything you need to kiss seborrheic dermatitis goodbye.
I can now say I’m itch and flake-free and all for cheap with completely natural products. To say I’m happy is an understatement.
I hope you experience the same freedom and joy with a seborrheic dermatitis-free life!
